You’ve Been Charging Your Phone Wrong All The Time

Do you charge your phone overnight? Are you aware that overcharging your phone can cause damage to it?

Does your phone battery last barely a day?

If not, then read on to know more.

Charging your phone at small intervals may damage the battery life. THAT’S A MYTH!

Here’s another misconception: Charging our phones when the battery is about to die.

Believe me, just DON’T!

According to a battery company Cadex:

…the ‘lithium-ion’ in the battery has its own level of ‘stress’. If you increase the ‘stress’ of your smartphone by overcharging it, the battery life of your phone is ultimately shortened, which takes us to the next step that is very important.

Unplug your phone when it is fully charged.

As for humans, stress can be damaging. Similarly, over-stressing your phone by overcharging it, is going to do no good to you. Unplugging the charger is like ‘relaxing after an exhausting exercise’. How would it be if you workout non-stop?

In fact, try not to charge it to 100%.

Charging Your Phone Wrong

According to Battery University, “Li-ion does not need to be fully charged, nor is it desirable to do so. In fact, it is better not to fully charge, because a high voltage stresses the battery and wears it away in the long run”.

Plug-in your phone whenever you can.

Your phone battery will stay a little happier if you charge it now and then, instead of charging it when it’s empty. According to Battery University, it’s best to charge your phone when it loses its 10%, though it’s not possible to be conscious all the time, but just plug it whenever required.

When you’re charging your phone, does it heat up? Here’s what to do.

This is especially for iPhone. If it heats up, as Apple suggests, remove the case and charge it. If you’re charging it in the hot sun, keep the iPhone covered. It’ll protect your battery health.
