Obama Just Went Viral Joking With George H.W. Bush On Twitter

Earlier today, former President George H.W. Bush took to Twitter to joke about his experience at this weekend’s One America Appeal benefit concert, claiming that he would have sung with Lady Gaga if asked.

Barack Obama raised the stakes by replying to Bush Sr. and adding some levity of his own.

Their comments come in the tragic aftermath of an unprecedented hurricane season that ravaged the southeastern United States and its territories this year. Afterwards, all five former living American presidents joined together for a fundraising campaign called the One America Appeal to raise money for the victims.

Carter, Clinton, Bush Jr., Bush Sr., and Obama were also all in attendance at this Saturday’s benefit concert, named “Deep From the Heart: The One America Appeal,” at Reed Arena at Texas A&M University in College Station. The concert featured rock and country music stars including Lyle Lovett, Sam Moore, Robert Earl Keen, and Yolanda Adams.

As of Sunday, the fundraising campaign raised at least $33 million from over 80,000 donors.

Lady Gaga also made an unplanned appearance, and her photo with all five former living Presidents went viral online.

At the concert, Lady Gaga performed her hit song “Million Reasons.”

“It’s important that those affected by these devastating storms know that even if the path to recovery feels like a road that goes on forever, we’re with them for the long haul,” President George H.W. Bush saidat the event.

Trump, for his part, was not in attendance. However, after getting himself into hot water by criticizing the mayor of San Juan after the island’s devastating hurricane, perhaps his absence facilitated a much more upbeat – and successful – campaign.
